Australia: at night a neighbour breaks through the window and sexually assaults a 10-year old girl in her bedroom

Hardly a day goes by in Australia without the news of yet another child being stripped of his or her dignity, innocence, faith, confidence and hope for normal life in the most brutal way one can imagine.

Almost every day there's news about yet another child rape or attempted kidnapping and rape. This is happening in one of world's most developed countries. While civilised nations are striving to introduce laws that punish but do not harm perpetrators, they seem to be forgetting about the victims. By letting paedophiles out after their prison term ends, how can we be assured they will not reoffend again? How can parents let their children grow to be independent knowing that smart and cunning paedophiles and rapists are hiding in the crowd?

To sexually attack a child is not just the matter of extended libido, it is a fundamental deviation. It is a type of mental illness. Illnesses, including mental ones are treated with medication until their root cause is known and the underlying problem can be solved (which may be decades from now).

Until then, like with any other mentally ill people that can be dangerous to the public, paedophiles should undergo mandatory medical treatment that is harshly called medical castration.

What do you think? Could medical castration be a solution? Would you vote for it if you were to? Let us know
